So.. 4 years isn't too long to wait for an update is it? :)

I updated the forums to phpBB 3.0 and it looks pretty neat so far.

The channel conversation has contained a lot of Jeep this and Jeep that lately. Raskull, Thinko, Melbogia, O-Min, and myself (Imbezol) have all bought Jeeps and have had a lot of fun wheeling them in various areas of Alberta so far.

Other news within the last 4 years.. umm..
Kyle's no longer a powder coating technician,
Dav's no longer a NOC dude and is working a brake press now,
Thinko's no longer a NOC dude and is working storage with Razz,
Melbogia's no longer a NOC dude (well, he was only NOC shortly anyways) but more importantly, no longer lives in Alberta! :( But he misses us lots and we miss him lots so maybe he'll come back some day :),
Mambo's no longer a NOC dude and aspires to be a professional poker player,
Nicoya almost got a job,
Shnotty's around Red Deer again starting his own IT business,
Popdog's still living with the 'rents and unFing Cisco gear,
Fydo's married!!!! and still haxing python,
Adam still loves us,
Beany still wonders if anyone has tried X, and wonders where Y works these days,
Termy still connects and disconnects a lot,
and ord, revo, and dev are still around when the moon is blue.
And lastly, I'm still working at TB and building BigFiber.net!
I think that about covers it. See you in 2012!

Enter the Game has been our home for a very long time. As all of you know we started out a gaming community, most of us Quake 3 fanatics. Quake 3 has helped us create our small community. With the passing of the Quake 3 era we have become just a group of good friends who like to hang out, and most of the time geek out. Unfortunately our channel has been growing smaller and smaller over time as people move on to other passions. What those of us still here have in common mostly is our love for computers and irc. I don't want to see our channel die off because #crd is my favorite part of using my system. I'd like to see #crd continue to grow even though its focus may have changed. This has made me make a decision I've been deliberating over for a few months now. #crd is moving to efnet, where our channel has a lot better chances of growing again. Enter The Game has been a great network for us and I personally thank them for all the great service they've provided. It is, however, a gaming centric network. I hope all of you will stay with us through this move as we don't want to abandon any of our friends with this move. We want to make this good thing grow to be even better. I have high hopes of building the community up once again. Please join us on irc.arcti.ca or irc.inet.tele.dk or irc.choopa.net or whatever your favorite efnet server is. I'm sure the move will present a lot of challenges but many of us are looking forward to seeing fresh blood and making new friends together with the friends we already have here. See you there!

Well, this site has been about Quake 3 for as long as it's been in existence but as we all know every game has a limited lifespan. For those of you that have been in the crd channel on a regular basis you already know what crd is about now. We've migrated from being a channel of Quake enthusiasts to being a channel of computer enthusiasts. There seems to be a fairly large influence exerted by the growing popularity of linux and other unix varieties, as well as all the services that run on them. We have enthusiasts for the Microsoft platform as we near the launch of Windows 2003 Server. We have people excited about running their own servers for web pages and mail and dns; people that can't wait to get their own colo'ed server. We have a friendly competition to have the best uptime, the most bandwidth, more shell accounts than the next guy, to be the first to have a terrabyte of disc space, maybe even on serial ATA (or god forbid, SCSI).

Our channel is where people that want to get started on all the fun are coming. Crd is where people are coming when they need a refresher on how to fdisk their system, or want to know what distro is the best, or wonder how to set up mrtg on a Cisco 2900 series. This is the place people come if they need a small website, if they need backup dns, or they want a shell account. We're not a help channel, but we sure help a lot of people, and each other as well.

We've moved from a Quake community to a place to share with someone about the kickass new network scanner you've found, the benefits of bind versus tiny dns, find a link to a kick ass case mod, or hear about the newest movements in the telco amalgamations.. yes, we've become all this and we still have time to check out the tabloid/porn/comic link posted (and maybe even a quick game of clan arena, if you're lucky). It's now time to make our website reflect the love our channel has for all things digital.
